Jonathan Ip practices primarily in the area of insurance defence. He brings a client-focused approach to his practice, where he provides objective advice and efficient solutions that are consistent with the goals of his individual and institutional clients. Jonathan’s skill in the discovery process ensures his clients have what they need to make informed decisions on how to proceed in a matter. Whenever an issue requires resolution in the courts, Jonathan advances the interests of his clients through well-reasoned submissions and effective advocacy.

Jonathan articled at a small general practice firm in Richmond where he represented a diverse range of clients and continued there after he was called to the bar in 2015. He later practiced insurance defence at a litigation boutique in Vancouver for two years before joining Stevens Virgin in 2018. Jonathan has appeared in the Provincial Court and Supreme Court of British Columbia as counsel on a variety of matters, including construction disputes, insurance defence, and commercial litigation.

Jonathan volunteered with Student Legal Services during law school at the University of Alberta and with Access Pro Bono after his bar admission in BC.

During his spare time, Jonathan enjoys running, hiking, reading, and music.
